Related Product Information for anti-SMN1 antibody
The survival motor neuron gene (SMN) is present in two highly homologous copies (SMN1 and SMN2) on chromosome 5q13. Homozygous deletion of exons 7 and 8 of SMN1 is responsible for Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). SMA is one of the most common genetic causes of death in infants due to a mutation of the motor neuron 1 (SMN1) gene. SMA is caused by homozygous deletions of the SMN1 gene in approximately 95% of patients. The remaining 5% of patients with SMA retain at least one copy of the SMN1 gene carrying insertions, deletions, or point mutations. The SMN1 gene encodes for the multifunctional SMN protein, which is implicated in pre-mRNA splicing, mRNA transport, and translational control. SMN is a component of the SMN complex and is also involved in the biosynthesis of the small nuclear ribonucleoproteins (snRNPs), which play critical roles in pre-mRNA splicing in the pathogenesis of SMA.

Product Notes

The SMN1 (Catalog #AAA8109441) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-SMN1 Antibody, Rabbit Polyclonal reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SMN1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin (IHC-P). WB: 1:500-1:2000 IHC-P: 1:50-1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SMN1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SMN1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
