NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a secreted protein that is involved in the regulation of bone development. Defects in this gene are a cause of female-specific osteoarthritis (OA) susceptibility. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

FRZB: Soluble frizzled-related proteins (sFRPS) function as modulators of Wnt signaling through direct interaction with Wnts. They have a role in regulating cell growth and differentiation in specific cell types. SFRP3/FRZB appears to be involved in limb skeletogenesis. Antagonist of Wnt8 signaling. Regulates chondrocyte maturation and long bone development. Defects in FRZB are associated with susceptibility to osteoarthritis type 1(OS1). Osteoarthritis is a degenerative disease of the joints characterized by degradation of the hyaline articular cartilage and remodeling of the subchondral bone with sclerosis. Clinical symptoms include pain and joint stiffness often leading to significant disability and joint replacement. Belongs to the secreted frizzled-related protein (sFRP) family.

Protein type: Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2q32.1

Cellular Component: extracellular space; membrane; integral to membrane

Molecular Function: G-protein coupled receptor activity; Wnt-protein binding; Wnt receptor activity

Biological Process: negative regulation of cell proliferation; convergent extension involved in organogenesis; negative regulation of Wnt receptor signaling pathway; positive regulation of apoptosis; positive regulation of fat cell differentiation; negative regulation of cell growth; neural crest cell differentiation; skeletal development

Disease: Osteoarthritis Susceptibility 1

Product Notes

The FRZB frzb (Catalog #AAA613780) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The SFRP3 (Secreted Frizzled Related Protein 3, FRZB, Fritz, Frzb1) (Biotin) reacts with Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SFRP3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunocytochemistry (ICC). Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry and Immunocytochemistry. Dilution: Western Blot: 0.1-0.2ug/ml; The detection limit is ~5ng/lane under non-reducing and reducing conditions. In this format, shows ~60% crossreactivity with recombinant human SFRP3. Immunohistochemistry: 2-5ug/ml; Detects SFRP3 in cells and tissues. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the FRZB frzb for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SFRP3, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
