NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a protein that was found to be overexpressed in prostate adenocarcinomas. The encoded protein was found to interact with the lipid raft protein flotillin-1 and shuttle it from the cytoplasm to the nucleus in a cell cycle dependent manner. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2015]
Uniprot Description
PTOV1: May activate transcription. Required for nuclear translocation of FLOT1. Promotes cell proliferation. Belongs to the Mediator complex subunit 25 family. PTOV1 subfamily. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19q13.33
Cellular Component: nucleus; perinuclear region of cytoplasm; plasma membrane
Biological Process: regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; transcription, DNA-dependent
