Related Product Information for anti-PPAN antibody
The protein encoded by this gene is an evolutionarily conserved protein similar to yeast SSF1 as well as to the gene product of the Drosophila gene peter pan (ppan). SSF1 is known to be involved in the second step of mRNA splicing. Both SSF1 and ppan are essential for cell growth and proliferation. Exogenous expression of this gene was reported to reduce the anchorage-independent growth of some tumor cells. Read-through transcription of this gene with P2RY11/P2Y(11), an adjacent downstream gene that encodes an ATP receptor, has been found. These read-through transcripts are ubiquitously present and up-regulated during granulocyte differentiation.

NCBI Description

This locus represents naturally occurring read-through transcription between the adjacent PPAN and P2RY11 genes. Alternative splicing results in two transcript variants, one of which encodes a fusion protein that shares sequence identity with each individual gene product. This transcript is found to be ubiquitously expressed and is up-regulated by agents inducing granulocytic differentiation. However, its functional significance in vivo remains unclear. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2010]

Uniprot Description

SSF1: May have a role in cell growth. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: RNA-binding; Nucleolus

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19p13

Cellular Component: nucleolus; nucleus

Biological Process: RNA splicing

Product Notes

The PPAN ppan (Catalog #AAA6336089) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The PPAN, CT (PPAN, BXDC3, SSF1, Suppressor of SWI4 1 homolog, Brix domain-containing protein 3, Peter Pan homolog) (MaxLight 550) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PPAN can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), FLISA. WB: 1:100-500 FLISA: 1:1,000 Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PPAN ppan for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PPAN, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
