NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a phosphatidylinositol (PI) 4-kinase which catalyzes the first committed step in the biosynthesis of phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate. The mammalian PI 4-kinases have been classified into two types, II and III, based on their molecular mass, and modulation by detergent and adenosine. The protein encoded by this gene is a type III enzyme that is not inhibited by adenosine. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2014]
Uniprot Description
PIK4CA: Acts on phosphatidylinositol (PtdIns) in the first committed step in the production of the second messenger inositol- 1,4,5,-trisphosphate. Expressed ubiquitously. Highest levels in placenta and brain. Little or no expression in lung, liver, pancreas, testis or leukocytes. This is a type II PtdIns-4-kinase activated by detergents such as triton and inhibited by adenosine. Belongs to the PI3/PI4-kinase family. Type III PI4K subfamily. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Protein type: Carbohydrate Metabolism - inositol phosphate; EC 2.7.1.67; Kinase, lipid; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis

The Polyclonal Antibody to Phosphatidylinositol-4-Kinase Catalytic Alpha (PI4Ka) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Phosphatidylinositol-4-Kinase Catalytic Alpha can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Formalin/Paraffin, ELISA (EIA). Western blotting: 1-5ug/ml Immunocytochemistry in formalin fixed cells: 5-20ug/ml Immunohistochemistry in formalin fixed frozen section: 5-20ug/ml Immunohistochemistry in paraffin section: 5-20ug/ml Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay: 0.05-2ug/ml Optimal working dilutions must be determined by end user. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PI4Ka pi4ka for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Phosphatidylinositol-4-Kinase Catalytic Alpha, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
