Principle of the Assay: Human Phosphatidylinositol 4 - Kinase Alpha (PI4KA) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate PI4KA in samples. An antibody specific for Human PI4KA has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any PI4KA present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, HRP-Conjugated PI4KA detection antibody is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound HRP reagent, a Chromogen solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of PI4KA bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a phosphatidylinositol (PI) 4-kinase which catalyzes the first committed step in the biosynthesis of phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate. The mammalian PI 4-kinases have been classified into two types, II and III, based on their molecular mass, and modulation by detergent and adenosine. The protein encoded by this gene is a type III enzyme that is not inhibited by adenosine. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms.
