Related Product Information for PI4KA recombinant protein
Description: Recombinant full-length human PI4KA was expressed by baculovirus in Sf9 insect cells using an N-terminal GST tag.
Scientific Background: PI4KA encodes a phosphatidylinositol (PI) 4-kinase which catalyzes the first committed step in the biosynthesis of phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate. The mammalian PI 4-kinases have been classified into two types, II and III, based on their molecular mass, and modulation by detergent and adenosine. The protein encoded by PI4KA gene is a type III enzyme that is not inhibited by adenosine. PI4KA is highly expressed in placenta and brain (1). PI4KA is associated with the membranes of Golgi vesicles and vacuoles (2).

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a phosphatidylinositol (PI) 4-kinase which catalyzes the first committed step in the biosynthesis of phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate. The mammalian PI 4-kinases have been classified into two types, II and III, based on their molecular mass, and modulation by detergent and adenosine. The protein encoded by this gene is a type III enzyme that is not inhibited by adenosine. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2014]

Uniprot Description

Acts on phosphatidylinositol (PtdIns) in the first committed step in the production of the second messenger inositol-1,4,5,-trisphosphate.

Product Notes

The PI4KA pi4ka (Catalog #AAA515594) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Sf9 insect cells using baculovirus and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is Full length. AAA Biotech's PI4KA can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Kinase Assay. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PI4KA pi4ka for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PI4KA, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
