NCBI Description

This gene encodes a coiled-coil protein that plays a role in multiple processes including cytoskeletal organization, cell signaling and neuron migration, outgrowth and maintenance. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene, and a pseudogene of this gene is located on the long arm of chromosome X. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2012]

Uniprot Description

NDEL1: Required for organization of the cellular microtubule array and microtubule anchoring at the centrosome. May regulate microtubule organization at least in part by targeting the microtubule severing protein KATNA1 to the centrosome. Also positively regulates the activity of the minus-end directed microtubule motor protein dynein. May enhance dynein-mediated microtubule sliding by targeting dynein to the microtubule plus ends. Required for several dynein- and microtubule-dependent processes such as the maintenance of Golgi integrity, the centripetal motion of secretory vesicles and the coupling of the nucleus and centrosome. Also required during brain development for the migration of newly formed neurons from the ventricular/subventricular zone toward the cortical plate. Plays a role, together with DISC1, in the regulation of neurite outgrowth. Required for mitosis in some cell types but appears to be dispensible for mitosis in cortical neuronal progenitors, which instead requires NDE1. Facilitates the polymerization of neurofilaments from the individual subunits NEFH and NEFL. Belongs to the nudE family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Microtubule-binding; Protease

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17p13.1

Cellular Component: centrosome; cytosol; kinesin complex; kinetochore

Molecular Function: identical protein binding; microtubule binding; protein binding

Biological Process: cell migration; centrosome localization; chromosome segregation; establishment of chromosome localization; establishment of mitotic spindle orientation; microtubule nucleation; mitotic centrosome separation; positive regulation of GTPase activity; regulation of intracellular protein transport; sister chromatid cohesion; vesicle transport along microtubule

Product Notes

The NDEL1 ndel1 (Catalog #AAA9416854) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The NDEL1 (Phospho-Thr219) Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's NDEL1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Western Blot: 1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NDEL1 ndel1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "NDEL1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
