Related Product Information for anti-MXD4 antibody
MXD4 is a member of the MAD gene family. The MAD, basic helix-loop-helix-leucine zipper proteins that heterodimerize with MAX protein, forming a transcriptional repression complex. The MAD proteins compete for MAX binding with MYC, which heterodimerizes with MAX forming a transcriptional activation complex. Studies in rodents suggest that the MAD genes are tumor suppressors and contribute to the regulation of cell growth in differentiating tissues.

NCBI Description

This gene is a member of the MAD gene family . The MAD genes encode basic helix-loop-helix-leucine zipper proteins that heterodimerize with MAX protein, forming a transcriptional repression complex. The MAD proteins compete for MAX binding with MYC, which heterodimerizes with MAX forming a transcriptional activation complex. Studies in rodents suggest that the MAD genes are tumor suppressors and contribute to the regulation of cell growth in differentiating tissues. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Mad4: Transcriptional repressor. Binds with MAX to form a sequence-specific DNA-binding protein complex which recognizes the core sequence 5'-CAC[GA]TG-3'. Antagonizes MYC transcriptional activity by competing for MAX and suppresses MYC dependent cell transformation.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 4p16.3

Cellular Component: nucleus

Molecular Function: protein dimerization activity; protein binding; DNA binding; transcription corepressor activity

Biological Process: negative regulation of cell proliferation; transcription, DNA-dependent; negative regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter

Product Notes

The MXD4 mxd4 (Catalog #AAA6012938) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The MXD4 (Max Dimerization Protein 4, Max Dimerizer 4, Max-interacting Transcriptional Repressor MAD4, Max-associated Protein 4, Class C Basic Helix-loop-helix Protein 12, bHLHc12, MAD4) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's MXD4 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Dilution: ELISA: 1:16,000 Western Blot: 0.5-2ug/ml, observed in human kidney lysates on ~22kD bands. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MXD4 mxd4 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MXD4, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
