Rabbit Methylated Lysine Polyclonal Antibody
Methylated Lysine Antibody: HRP
Western Blot (WB)
(Western blot analysis of Bovine serum albumin showing detection of Methylated Lysine protein using Rabbit Anti-Methylated Lysine Polyclonal Antibody (SPC-158). Primary Antibody: Rabbit Anti-Methylated Lysine Polyclonal Antibody (SPC-158) at 1:1000. Methylated Lysine in BSA (Left) and Methylated BSA (Right).)
Scientific Background: Post-translational modifications of proteins play critical roles in the regulation and function of many known biological processes. Proteins can be post-translationally modified in many different ways, and a common post-transcriptional modification of Lysine involves methylation (1). Lysine can be methylated once, twice or three times by lysine methyltransferases. The transfer of methyl groups from S-adenosyl methionine to histones is catalyzed by enzymes known as histone methyltransferases. Histones which are methylated on certain residues can act epigenetically to repress or activate gene expression (1, 2). The transcriptional repressor SUV39H1 can encode novel enzymes which selectively methylate histone H3 at lysine 9. SUV39H1 places a methyl marker on histone H3, which is then recognized by HP1 through its chromo domain. This model may also explain the stable inheritance of the heterochromatic state (3). Some studies have also speculated a stimulatory role for transcription by methylated histone lyside 4 due to its presence at active transcription sites (4-6).

Product Notes
The Methylated Lysine (Catalog #AAA805807) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Methylated Lysine Antibody: HRP reacts with Multi species and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Methylated Lysine can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). 1:2000-1:5000 dilution WB. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Methylated Lysine for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Methylated Lysine, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
