Scientific Background: Post-translational modifications of proteins play critical roles in the regulation and function of many known biological processes. Proteins can be post-translationally modified in many different ways, and a common post-transcriptional modification of Lysine involves acetylation (1). The conserved amino-terminal domains of the four core histones (H2A, H2B, H3 and H4) contain lysines that are acetylated by histone acetyltransferases (HATs) and deacetylated by histone deacetylases (HDACs) (2). Protein posttranslational reversible lysine Nepsilon-acetylation and deacetylation have been recognized as an emerging intracellular signaling mechanism that plays critical roles in regulating gene transcription, cell-cycle progression, apoptosis, DNA repair, and cytoskeletal organization (3). The regulation of protein acetylation status is impaired in the pathologies of cancer and polyglutamine diseases (4), and HDACs have become promising targets for anti-cancer drugs currently in development (5).

Product Notes
The Acetylated Lysine (Catalog #AAA805559) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Acetylated Lysine Antibody: HRP reacts with Multi species and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Acetylated Lysine can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA), Immunoprecipitation (IP), Immunofluorescence (IF). 1:250 (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Acetylated Lysine for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Acetylated Lysine, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
