Biological Significance
K28 is a member of the type I (acidic) keratin family, which belongs to the superfamily of intermediate filament (IF) proteins. Keratins are heteropolymeric structural proteins which form the intermediate filament. These filaments, along with actin microfilaments and microtubules, compose the cytoskeleton of epithelial cells. The type I keratin genes are clustered in a region of chromosome 17q12-q21.
Cross-Reactivity
Mouse
Immunogen
Keratin K28 antibody was raised in Guinea Pig using synthetic peptide of human keratin K28 coupled to KLH as the immunogen.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 2-8 degree C for short term storage. Aliquot and store at -20 degree C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the type I (acidic) keratin family, which belongs to the superfamily of intermediate filament (IF) proteins. Keratins are heteropolymeric structural proteins which form the intermediate filament. These filaments, along with actin microfilaments and microtubules, compose the cytoskeleton of epithelial cells. The type I keratin genes are clustered in a region of chromosome 17q12-q21. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2009]

Product Notes

The KRT28 krt28 (Catalog #AAA835818) is an Antibody produced from Guinea Pig and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Keratin K28 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC). IHC: 1:100-200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the KRT28 krt28 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Keratin K28, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
