Function: This is one of the several different receptors for 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin), a biogenic hormone that functions as a neurotransmitter, a hormone, and a mitogen. This receptor is a ligand-gated ion channel, which when activated causes fast, depolarizing responses. It is a cation-specific, but otherwise relatively nonselective, ion channel.
Subunit Structure: Forms a pentaheteromeric complex with HTR3A. Not functional as a homomeric complex.
Similarity: Belongs to the ligand-gated ion channel (TC 1.A.9) family. 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor (TC 1.A.9.2) subfamily. HTR3E sub-subfamily.

NCBI Description

This locus encodes a 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin) receptor subunit. The encoded protein, subunit E, may play a role in neurotransmission in myenteric neurons. Genes encoding subunits C, D and E form a cluster on chromosome 3. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2012]

Product Notes

The HTR3E htr3e (Catalog #AAA9604222) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The HTR3E Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's HTR3E can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), ELISA (EIA). WB: 1:500-1:2000 IHC: 1:50-1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the HTR3E htr3e for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "HTR3E, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
