channel receptor superfamily. HTR3E encodes a subunit E of the
type 3 receptor for 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin), a biogenic
hormone that functions as a neurotransmitter, a hormone, and a
mitogen. This receptor causes fast, depolarizing responses in
neurons after activation. Genes encoding subunits C, D and E form a
cluster on chromosome 3. An alternative splice variant has been
described but its full length sequence has not been determined.

NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This locus encodes a 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin) receptor subunit. The encoded protein, subunit E, may play a role in neurotransmission in myenteric neurons. Genes encoding subunits C, D and E form a cluster on chromosome 3. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2012]
Uniprot Description
5-HT(3E): This is one of the several different receptors for 5- hydroxytryptamine (serotonin), a biogenic hormone that functions as a neurotransmitter, a hormone, and a mitogen. This receptor is a ligand-gated ion channel, which when activated causes fast, depolarizing responses. It is a cation-specific, but otherwise relatively nonselective, ion channel. Belongs to the ligand-gated ion channel (TC 1.A.9) family. 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor (TC 1.A.9.2) subfamily. HTR3E sub-subfamily. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Protein type: Transporter, ion channel; Channel, ligand-gated; Membrane protein, integral; Channel, cation; Membrane protein, multi-pass
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 3q27.1
Cellular Component: integral to membrane; plasma membrane
Molecular Function: extracellular ligand-gated ion channel activity
Biological Process: transmembrane transport

Product Notes
The HTR3E htr3e (Catalog #AAA9208743) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 126-154. The 5HT3E Antibody (Center) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's 5HT3E can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS). WB~~1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the HTR3E htr3e for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "5HT3E, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
