Applicable Applications for anti-ERV3 antibody
Peptide ELISA (EIA)
Application Notes
Peptide ELISA: Antibody detection limit dilution 1: 4000.
Western Blot: Preliminary experiments gave an approx 30kDa band in Human Placenta lysates after 1ug/ml antibody staining. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the band we observe given the calculated size of 67.9kDa according to NP_001007254.2. The 30kDa band was successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide.
Immunogen
Peptide with sequence C-PQDNFTLTASS, from the internal region of the protein sequence according to NP_001007254.2.
Epitope
Internal region

NCBI Description

The human genome includes many retroelements including the human endogenous retroviruses (HERVs). ERV3, one of the most studied HERVs, is thought to have integrated 30 to 40 million years ago and is present in higher primates with the exception of gorillas. Taken together, the observation of genome conservation, the detection of transcript expression, and the presence of conserved ORFs is circumstantial evidence for a functional role. A functional role is also suggested by the observation that downregulation of ERV3 is reported in choriocarcinoma. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

ERV3: Retroviral envelope proteins mediate receptor recognition and membrane fusion during early infection. Endogenous envelope proteins may have kept, lost or modified their original function during evolution. This endogenous envelope protein has lost its fusogenic properties. It can inhibit cell growth through decrease expression of cyclin B1 and increased expression of p21 in vitro. Belongs to the gamma type-C retroviral envelope protein family. HERV class-I R env subfamily.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 7q11.2

Cellular Component: viral envelope

Product Notes

The ERV3 erv3-1 (Catalog #AAA422488) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Goat anti-ERV3 Antibody reacts with Expected from sequence similarity: Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's ERV3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Peptide ELISA (EIA). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ERV3 erv3-1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: PQDNFTLTAS S. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ERV3, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
