Related Product Information for anti-eNOS antibody
The diffusible free radical gas nitric oxide (NO) affects a variety of physiological functions, and is a key regulator of the cardiovascular, nervous, and immune systems. NO is synthesized in many tissues from L-arginine, oxygen, and NADPH by three known isoforms of a heme-containing flavoprotein termed NO synthase (NOS-I/nNOS, NOS-II/iNOS, and NOS-III/eNOS). eNOS is a constitutively expressed isoform originally characterized in vascular endothelium. eNOS is activated by the interplay of eNOS binding proteins such as calmodulin and Hsp90, as well as by posttranslational modification of the protein by phosphorylation at multiple sites including Ser1177 (activating) and Thr495 (inhibiting). eNOS activation at Ser1177 can be triggered by many protein kinases including Akt/PKB, PKA, CAMKII, or by dephosphorylation of Thr495 by phosphatases such as PP2A.

NCBI Description

Nitric oxide is a reactive free radical which acts as a biologic mediator in several processes, including neurotransmission and antimicrobial and antitumoral activities. Nitric oxide is synthesized from L-arginine by nitric oxide synthases. Variations in this gene are associated with susceptibility to coronary spasm. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, May 2009]

Uniprot Description

eNOS: endothelial constitutive nitric oxide synthase. Synthesizes nitric oxide (NO) from arginine and oxygen, which is implicated in vascular smooth muscle relaxation through a cGMP-mediated signal transduction pathway. NO mediates vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-induced angiogenesis in coronary vessels and promotes blood clotting through the activation of platelets. Induced in humans by caloric restriction. Stimulated by calcium/calmodulin. Inhibited by NOSIP and NOSTRIN.

Product Notes

The eNOS nos3 (Catalog #AAA565280) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The eNOS polyclonal antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's eNOS can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Western Blot (1:1,000, ECL) Suggested dilutions/conditions may not be available for all applications. Detects a band of ~133kDa by Western blot. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the eNOS nos3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "eNOS, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
