Related Product Information for anti-DIMT1 antibody
DIMT1 (DIM1 dimethyladenosine transferase 1), also known as DIMT1L or HUSSY-05, is a 313 amino acid protein that belongs to the rRNA adenine N(6)-methyltransferase family. Localized to the nucleolus, DIMT1 functions to dimethylate adjacent adenosines on the conserved hairpin loop of 18S rRNA in the 40S particle. The gene encoding DIMT1 maps to chromosome 5, which contains 181 million base pairs and comprises nearly 6% of the human genome. Chromosome 5 is associated with Cockayne syndrome through the ERCC8 gene and familial adenomatous polyposis through the adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) tumor suppressor gene.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a methyltransferase that is responsible for dimethylation of adjacent adenosines near the 18S rRNA decoding site. The encoded protein is essential for ribosome biogenesis, although its catalytic activity is not involved in the process. The yeast ortholog of this protein functions in the cytoplasm while this protein functions in the nucleus. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2017]

Uniprot Description

DIMT1: Specifically dimethylates two adjacent adenosines in the loop of a conserved hairpin near the 3'-end of 18S rRNA in the 40S particle. Belongs to the methyltransferase superfamily. rRNA adenine N(6)-methyltransferase family.

Protein type: EC 2.1.1.183; Nucleolus; RNA-binding; Methyltransferase

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 5q12.1

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; nucleolus; nucleus

Molecular Function: rRNA (adenine-N6,N6-)-dimethyltransferase activity

Biological Process: rRNA methylation

Product Notes

The DIMT1 dimt1 (Catalog #AAA3012167) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The DIMT1 Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's DIMT1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). WB: 1:500-1:2000 IHC: 1:50-1:100. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the DIMT1 dimt1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "DIMT1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
