Applicable Applications for anti-DEFB1 antibody
ELISA (EIA), Immunohistology Paraffin*, Western Blot (WB)
Application Notes
ELISA: This purified human defensinbeta-1 antibody may be used in an indirect ELISA or as the capture reagent in a sandwich ELISA with our biotinylated human defensinbeta-1 antibody as the detection reagent and recombinant human defensinbeta-1 as the standard.
ELISA: Minimum Dilution: 0.5; Maximum Dilution: 2.0ug/ml
Immunohistology - Paraffin: Application Note: This product requires antigen retrieval using heat treatment prior to staining of paraffin sections. Sodium citrate buffer pH 6.0 is recommended for this purpose.
Western Blotting: Minimum Dilution: 0.1; Maximum Dilution: 0.2ug/ml
Reconstitution
Reconstitute with 0.1ml distilled water Care should be taken during reconstitution as the protein may appear as a film at the bottom of the vial. MyBioSource recommends that the vial is gently mixed after reconstitution. For long term storage the addition of 0.09% sodium azide is recommended.
Buffer Solution
Phosphate buffered saline
Antiserum Preparation
Antiserum to human defensin beta 1 was raised by repeated immunisation of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared by affinity chromatography.
Target Species
Human
Preparation and Storage
Prior to reconstitution store at 4 degree C. After reconstitution store at -20 degree C. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life: 12 months from date of reconstitution.

Related Product Information for anti-DEFB1 antibody
Rabbit anti Human defensinbeta-1 polyclonal antibody recognizes human defensin beta 1 (BD-1), a secreted cationic antimicrobial peptide and member of the beta-defensin family, expressed at epithelial surfaces, which plays an important role in innate immunity. Studies by Goldman et al. have shown that the activity of BD-1 is compromised in patients with Cystic Fibrosis due to salt-dependent inactivation.

NCBI Description

Defensins form a family of microbicidal and cytotoxic peptides made by neutrophils. Members of the defensin family are highly similar in protein sequence. This gene encodes defensin, beta 1, an antimicrobial peptide implicated in the resistance of epithelial surfaces to microbial colonization. This gene maps in close proximity to defensin family member, defensin, alpha 1 and has been implicated in the pathogenesis of cystic fibrosis. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

defensin, beta 1: Has bactericidal activity. Belongs to the beta-defensin family.

Protein type: Secreted; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Secreted, signal peptide

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 8p23.1

Product Notes

The DEFB1 defb1 (Catalog #AAA224033) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's DEFENSIN BETA 1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Immunohistology Paraffin*, Western Blot (WB). ELISA: This purified human defensinbeta-1 antibody may be used in an indirect ELISA or as the capture reagent in a sandwich ELISA with our biotinylated human defensinbeta-1 antibody as the detection reagent and recombinant human defensinbeta-1 as the standard. ELISA: Minimum Dilution: 0.5; Maximum Dilution: 2.0ug/ml Immunohistology - Paraffin: Application Note: This product requires antigen retrieval using heat treatment prior to staining of paraffin sections. Sodium citrate buffer pH 6.0 is recommended for this purpose. Western Blotting: Minimum Dilution: 0.1; Maximum Dilution: 0.2ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the DEFB1 defb1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "DEFENSIN BETA 1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
