Related Product Information for anti-APOH antibody
Apolipoprotein-H, also known as beta2-Glycoprotein I (beta2GPI), is a plasma glycoprotein that circulates at a concentration of 200 ug/ml (4 uM). Synthesized in the liver, beta2GPI is a single chain molecule of 48 kDa, consisting of five repeating internally disulphide-bonded structures referred to as sushi domains. Relative to other glycoproteins, beta2GPI has an unusually high content of cysteine (6.2%), proline (8.3%) and carbohydrate (19%). Almost half the circulating beta2GPI in plasma is associated with lipoproteins of all major fractions. beta2GPI has been demonstrated to bind negatively charged phospholipids, heparin and platelets. Although the precise function(s) are as yet unknown, beta2GPI has been demonstrated to interfere with blood coagulation by competitively binding to negatively charged phospholipid surfaces exposed during cell activation or damage. Recent evidence also implicates beta2GPI as a cofactor recognized by anti-phospholipid antibodies present in some autoimmune disorders such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)1-3.

NCBI Description

Apolipoprotein H has been implicated in a variety of physiologic pathways including lipoprotein metabolism, coagulation, and the production of antiphospholipid autoantibodies. APOH may be a required cofactor for anionic phospholipid binding by the antiphospholipid autoantibodies found in sera of many patients with lupus and primary antiphospholipid syndrome, but it does not seem to be required for the reactivity of antiphospholipid autoantibodies associated with infections. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

Function: Binds to various kinds of negatively charged substances such as heparin, phospholipids, and dextran sulfate. May prevent activation of the intrinsic blood coagulation cascade by binding to phospholipids on the surface of damaged cells.

Subcellular location: Secreted.

Tissue specificity: Expressed by the liver and secreted in plasma.

Post-translational modification: N- and O-glycosylated. Ref.10 also reports glycosylation on 'Asn-188' for their allele. Ref.10 Ref.15 Ref.16 Ref.17 Ref.18 Ref.19 Ref.20 Ref.21

Sequence similarities: Contains 4 Sushi (CCP/SCR) domains.

Product Notes

The APOH apoh (Catalog #AAA512023) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. Suitable as a source of antibodies to human beta2GPI. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the APOH apoh for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "beta2-Glycoprotein-1 (APO-H), Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
