Principles of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with human B2-GPI antibody. B2-GPI present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated human B2-GPI Antibody is added and binds to B2-GPI in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated B2-GPI antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of human B2-GPI. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Apolipoprotein H has been implicated in a variety of physiologic pathways including lipoprotein metabolism, coagulation, and the production of antiphospholipid autoantibodies. APOH may be a required cofactor for anionic phospholipid binding by the antiphospholipid autoantibodies found in sera of many patients with lupus and primary antiphospholipid syndrome, but it does not seem to be required for the reactivity of antiphospholipid autoantibodies associated with infections.
