Background/Introduction: C-Reactive Protein (CRP), named for its capacity to precipitate the somatic C-polysaccharide of Streptococcus pneumoniae, was the first acute-phase protein to be described and is an exquisitely sensitive systemic marker of inflammation and tissue damage. CRP belongs to the pentraxin family of calcium dependent ligand-binding plasma proteins. Human CRP binds with highest affinity to phosphocholine residues, but it also binds to a variety of other autologous and extrinsic ligands, and it aggregates or precipitates the cellular, particulate, or molecular structures bearing these ligands. Autologous ligands include native and modified plasma lipoproteins, damaged cell membranes, a number of different phospholipids and related compounds, small nuclear ribonucleoprotein particles, and apoptotic cells. Extrinsic ligands include many glycan, phospholipid, and other constituents of microorganisms, such as capsular and somatic components of bacteria, fungi, and parasites, as well as plant products. CRP has been associated with cardiovascular disease, atherosclerosis and inflammation, and other human diseases. Human CRP ELISA Kit is an enzyme immunoassay developed for the detection and quantitation of human CRP in plasma, serum or other biological fluid samples. The kit has detection sensitivity limit of 1 ng/mL human CRP. Each kit provides sufficient reagents to perform up to 96 assays including standard curve and unknown samples.

NCBI Description

brain specific isozyme that catalyzed the interconversion of ATP and creatine to ADP and phosphocreatine; may play a role in ATP generation during cerebellar development [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

CKB: Reversibly catalyzes the transfer of phosphate between ATP and various phosphogens (e.g. creatine phosphate). Creatine kinase isoenzymes play a central role in energy transduction in tissues with large, fluctuating energy demands, such as skeletal muscle, heart, brain and spermatozoa. Belongs to the ATP:guanido phosphotransferase family.

Protein type: Amino Acid Metabolism - arginine and proline; Kinase, other; EC 2.7.3.2

Cellular Component: mitochondrion; plasma membrane; myelin sheath

Molecular Function: protein binding; creatine kinase activity; ATP binding

Biological Process: substantia nigra development; phosphocreatine metabolic process; brain development; phosphorylation; cellular chloride ion homeostasis

Product Notes

The Ckb ckb (Catalog #AAA841514) is an Assay Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Creatine Kinase (CK), Assay Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
