NCBI Description

may play a role in membrane cytoskeleton ion transport and signal transduction [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

ADD1: a cytoskeletal protein that promotes the assembly of the spectrin-actin network. Adducin is a heterodimeric protein that consists of related subunits. Alpha- and beta-adducin include a protease-resistant N-terminal region and a protease-sensitive, hydrophilic C-terminal region. Alpha- and gamma-adducins are ubiquitously expressed. Adducin binds with high affinity to Ca(2+)/calmodulin and is a substrate for protein kinases A and C. Three alternatively-spliced isoforms have been described.

Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Cytoskeletal

Cellular Component: intermediate filament cytoskeleton; focal adhesion; cell; dendrite; postsynaptic density; dendritic spine; nucleoplasm; F-actin capping protein complex; cytoskeleton; membrane; perinuclear region of cytoplasm; plasma membrane; synapse; nucleus

Molecular Function: calmodulin binding; actin filament binding; protein binding; protein homodimerization activity; spectrin binding; protein heterodimerization activity; T cell receptor binding; structural molecule activity; transcription factor binding

Biological Process: actin filament bundle formation; positive regulation of protein binding; hemoglobin metabolic process; in utero embryonic development; negative regulation of actin filament polymerization; multicellular organism growth; cell morphogenesis; positive regulation of endocytosis; cytoskeleton organization and biogenesis; positive regulation of angiogenesis; homeostasis of number of cells within a tissue; erythrocyte differentiation; ion transport; cell volume homeostasis; barbed-end actin filament capping

Product Notes

The ADD1 add1 (Catalog #AAA3210744) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Add1 Antibody - N-terminal region reacts with Cow, Dog, Guinea Pig, Horse, Human, Mouse, Rabbit, Rat, Yeast, Zebrafish and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Add1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ADD1 add1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Synthetic peptide located within the following region: DTRAAVVTSP PPTTAPHKER YFDRVDENNP EYLRERNMAP DLRQDFNMME. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Add1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
