Related Product Information for OAS1 recombinant protein
OAS1 is an enzyme included in the 2',5'-oligoadenylate synthase family. This enzyme is induced by interferons and uses adenosine triphosphate in 2'-specific nucleotidyl transfer reactions to synthesize 2',5'-oligoadenylates (2-5As). These molecules activate latent RNase L, which results in viral RNA degradation and the inhibition of viral replication. OAS1 may play a role in mediating resistance to virus infection, control of cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis. Recombinant OAS1 protein was expressed in E Coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.

NCBI Description

This gene is induced by interferons and encodes a protein that synthesizes 2',5'-oligoadenylates (2-5As). This protein activates latent RNase L, which results in viral RNA degradation and the inhibition of viral replication. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants with different enzymatic activities. Polymorphisms in this gene have been associated with susceptibility to viral infection and diabetes mellitus, type 1. A disease-associated allele in a splice acceptor site influences the production of the p46 splice isoform. This gene is located in a cluster of related genes on chromosome 12. Uniprot Description

Interferon-induced, dsRNA-activated antiviral enzyme which plays a critical role in cellular innate antiviral response. In addition, it may also play a role in other cellular processes such as apoptosis, cell growth, differentiation and gene regulation. Synthesizes higher oligomers of 2'-5'-oligoadenylates (2-5A) from ATP which then bind to the inactive monomeric form of ribonuclease L (RNase L) leading to its dimerization and subsequent activation. Activation of RNase L leads to degradation of cellular as well as viral RNA, resulting in the inhibition of protein synthesis, thus terminating viral replication. Can mediate the antiviral effect via the classical RNase L-dependent pathway or an alternative antiviral pathway independent of RNase L. The secreted form displays antiviral effect against vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV), herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2), and encephalomyocarditis virus (EMCV) and stimulates the alternative antiviral pathway independent of RNase L.

Product Notes

The OAS1 oas1 (Catalog #AAA203376) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The tag for this protein is His-tag. AAA Biotech's OAS1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, SDS-PAGE. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the OAS1 oas1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: MGSSHHHHHH SSGLVPRGSH MMDLRNTPAK SLDKFIEDYL LPDTCFRMQI NHAIDIICGF LKERCFRGSS YPVCVSKVVK GGSSGKGTTL RGRSDADLVV FLSPLTTFQD QLNRRGEFIQ EIRRQLEACQ RERAFSVKFE VQAPRWGNPR ALSFVLSSLQ LGEGVEFDVL PAFDALGQLT GSYKPNPQIY VKLIEECTDL QKEGEFSTCF TELQRDFLKQ RPTKLKSLIR LVKHWYQNCK KKLGKLPPQY ALELLTVYAW ERGSMKTHFN TAQGFRTVLE LVINYQQLCI YWTKYYDFKN PIIEKYLRRQ LTKPRPVILD PADPTGNLGG GDPKGWRQLA QEAEAWLNYP CFKNWDGSPV SSWILLVRPP ASSLPFIPAP LHEA. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "OAS1, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
