Principle of the Assay: Mouse Group XIIB Secretory Phospholipase A2-Like Protein (PLA2G12B) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate PLA2G12B in samples. An antibody specific for PLA2G12B has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any PLA2G12B present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, HRP-Conjugated Mouse PLA2G12B detection antibody is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound HRP reagent, a Chromogen solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of PLA2G12B bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
Background/Introduction: Group XIII Secretory Phospholipase A2-Like Protein (PLA2G12B), the protein encoded by this gene belongs to the phospholipase A2 (PLA2) group of enzymes, which function in glycolipid hydrolysis with the release of free fatty acids and lysophospholipids. This family member has altered phospholipid-binding properties and is catalytically inactive. The protein is secreted, and together with microsomal triglyceride transfer protein, it functions to regulate HNF4alpha-induced hepatitis C virus infectivity.
