Mouse Fatty Acid Binding Protein 5, Epidermal (FABP5) ELISA Kit | FABP5 elisa kit
Mouse Fatty Acid Binding Protein 5, Epidermal (FABP5) ELISA Kit
Principle of the Assay: The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to FABP5. Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody preparation specific to FABP5. Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. After TMB substrate solution is added, only those wells that contain FABP5, biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450nm +/- 10nm. The concentration of FABP5 in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The protein encoded by this gene is part of the fatty acid binding protein family (FABP). FABPs are a family of small, highly conserved, cytoplasmic proteins that bind long-chain fatty acids and other hydrophobic ligands and participate in fatty acid uptake, transport, and metabolism. In humans this gene has been associated with psoriasis and type 2 diabetes. In mouse deficiency of this gene in combination with a deficiency in Fabp4 confers protection against atherosclerosis, diet-induced obesity, insulin resistance and experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (the mouse model for multiple sclerosis). Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants that encode different protein isoforms. The mouse genome contains many pseudogenes similar to this locus. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2013]
Uniprot Description
High specificity for fatty acids. Highest affinity for C18 chain length ().

Product Notes
The Mouse FABP5 fabp5 (Catalog #AAA454015) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA454015 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse FABP5. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Fatty Acid Binding Protein 5, Epidermal (FABP5), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
