Biological Significance
This antibody reacts with mouse PD-1, a 55 kDa member of the Ig superfamily. PD-1 contains the immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motif and plays a key role in peripheral tolerance and autoimmune disease in mice. PD-1 is expressed mainly on activated T and B lymphocytes. Two novel B7 Family members have been identified as PD-1 ligands, PD-L1 and PD-L2. Evidence reported to date suggests overlapping functions for these ligands and their constitutive expression on some normal tissues and upregulation on activated antigen-presenting cells. Similar to J43, another mAb to mouse PD-1, RMP1-14 blocks the binding of both B7-H1-Ig and B7-DC-Ig to PD-1 transfectants.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 2-8 degree C. Do not freeze. Protect from light.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a cell surface membrane protein of the immunoglobulin superfamily. This protein is expressed in pro-B-cells and is thought to play a role in their differentiation. In mice, expression of this gene is induced in the thymus when anti-CD3 antibodies are injected and large numbers of thymocytes undergo apoptosis. Mice deficient for this gene bred on a BALB/c background developed dilated cardiomyopathy and died from congestive heart failure. These studies suggest that this gene product may also be important in T cell function and contribute to the prevention of autoimmune diseases. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Product Notes

The PD1 pdcd1 (Catalog #AAA834076) is an Antibody produced from Rat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's PD1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Functional Assay. The ED50 of this protein, as measured by balb/c-3T3 cell proliferation, is 0.1-1.25 ng/ml. This corresponds to a specific activity of 1 x 10?- 8 x10? Units/mg. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PD1 pdcd1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PD1, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
