Specificity
Stains specifically the nucleolus and Cajal bodies in interphase cells. Recognizes 180kD polypeptide in Xenopus (xNopp180), homolog to the rat polypeptide (Nopp140). When applied at high concentration to human cells the antibody reacts with a nucleolar component which, however, does not correspond to xNopp180. Species Crossreactivity: Xenopus laevis, Xenopus borealis, XLKE-A6 cells; negative with Pleurodelis, Triturus, Rana, chicken, rat, mouse.

Preparation and Storage
May be stored at 4 degree C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Store at -20 degree C or colder. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

As part of the NSL complex it may be involved in acetylation of nucleosomal histone H4 on several lysine residues. Putative regulatory component of the chromatin remodeling INO80 complex which is involved in transcriptional regulation, DNA replication and probably DNA repair. May also be an inhibitor of TERT telomerase activity. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
