NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene is a member of the H/ACA snoRNPs (small nucleolar ribonucleoproteins) gene family. snoRNPs are involved in various aspects of rRNA processing and modification and have been classified into two families: C/D and H/ACA. The H/ACA snoRNPs also include the DKC1, NOLA2 and NOLA3 proteins. These four H/ACA snoRNP proteins localize to the dense fibrillar components of nucleoli and to coiled (Cajal) bodies in the nucleus. Both 18S rRNA production and rRNA pseudouridylation are impaired if any one of the four proteins is depleted. These four H/ACA snoRNP proteins are also components of the telomerase complex. The encoded protein of this gene contains two glycine- and arginine-rich domains and is related to Saccharomyces cerevisiae Gar1p. Two splice variants have been found for this gene. Uniprot Description
NOLA1: Required for ribosome biogenesis and telomere maintenance. Part of the H/ACA small nucleolar ribonucleoprotein (H/ACA snoRNP) complex, which catalyzes pseudouridylation of rRNA. This involves the isomerization of uridine such that the ribose is subsequently attached to C5, instead of the normal N1. Each rRNA can contain up to 100 pseudouridine (psi) residues, which may serve to stabilize the conformation of rRNAs. May also be required for correct processing or intranuclear trafficking of TERC, the RNA component of the telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) holoenzyme. Belongs to the GAR1 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Protein type: Nucleolus; RNA-binding
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 4q25
Cellular Component: Cajal body; nucleolus; nucleus
Molecular Function: cation channel activity
Biological Process: pseudouridine synthesis; cation transport; rRNA processing

Product Notes
The GAR1 gar1 (Catalog #AAA627756) is an Antibody produced from Chicken and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Nucleolar Protein Family A, Member 1 (GAR1 Protein, NOLA1) reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Nucleolar Protein Family A, Member 1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunocytochemistry (ICC). Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunohistochemistry, Immunocytochemistry and Western Blot. Dilution: Western Blot: 1:250 Immunohistochemistry: 1:100 Immunocytochemistry: 1:100. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GAR1 gar1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Nucleolar Protein Family A, Member 1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
