Related Product Information for anti-LGR5 antibody
LGR5 (Leucine-rich repeat- containing G protein-coupled receptor 5), also known as GPR49. belongs to the superfamily of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) (1). It is a 907 amino acid multi-pass membrane protein and has multiple N-terminal leucine-rich repeats, which are important for interaction with the glycoprotein ligands, and 7 transmembrane domains. LGR5 is expressed across a diverse range of tissue such as in the muscle, placenta, spinal cord and brain and particularly as a biomarker of adult stem cells in certain tissues (2). LGR5 is a member of the Wnt signaling pathway. Although its ligand remains elusive, it has been shown that costimulation with R-spondin 1 and Wnt-3a induce increased internalization of LGR5 (3). LGR5 is overexpressed in certain cancer types, e.g. gastrointestinal tumours and is thought to represent a tumour suppressor, although its role there is still unclear.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a leucine-rich repeat-containing receptor (LGR) and member of the G protein-coupled, 7-transmembrane receptor (GPCR) superfamily. The encoded protein is a receptor for R-spondins and is involved in the canonical Wnt signaling pathway. This protein plays a role in the formation and maintenance of adult intestinal stem cells during postembryonic development. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2015]

Uniprot Description

LGR5: a leucine-rich repeat-containing G-protein-coupled receptor. Receptor for R-spondins, potent stimulators of adult stem cell proliferation. A marker of cycling, long-lived and multipotent adult stem cell populations. Target gene of Wnt signaling. A Wnt receptor component that enhances Wnt signaling by soluble R-spondin proteins. Intestinal Lgr5+ stem cells give rise throughout life to proliferation of cells in crypts, which migrate along the crypt-villus axis, differentiating into five main cell types. Wnt signaling plays a crucial role in the proliferation and differentiation of these crypt epithelial cells. Two isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The LGR5 lgr5 (Catalog #AAA468050) is an Antibody produced from Rat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's LGR5 (GPR49) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS), C-ELISA (EIA). Flow Cytometry: 1.2 mug/10^6 cells C-ELISA: 1:200 - 1:400. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the LGR5 lgr5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "LGR5 (GPR49), Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
