Related Product Information for anti-CD51 antibody
Rat anti Mouse CD51 antibody, clone RMV-7 recognizes murine CD51, a 140 kD alpha subunit of the vitronectin receptor, which is otherwise known as the integrin alpha v chain. CD51 can form heterodimers at the cell surface with a variety of beta integrins including CD29 and CD61. Heterodimers of CD51/CD61 function as a receptor for vitronectin, and a wide array of RGD-containing proteins including fibronectin, fibrinogen, von Willebrand factor, laminin, thrombospondin and osteopontin. CD51/CD61 is primarily expressed on myeloid cells and activated T-cells. Alpha-V integrins may play a role in embryo implantation, angiogenesis and wound healing. The RMV-7 antibody has been reported to block binding of CD51 to vitronectin, fibronectin, and CD31 in some cell types, as well as blocking LAK cell cytotoxicity (Takahashi et al. 1990).

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein that is a member of the integrin superfamily. Integrins are transmembrane receptors involved cell adhesion and signaling, and they are subdivided based on the heterodimer formation of alpha and beta chains. This protein has been shown to heterodimerize with beta 1, beta 3, beta 6 and beta 8. The heterodimer of alpha v and beta 3 forms the Vitronectin receptor. This protein interacts with several extracellular matrix proteins to mediate cell adhesion and may play a role in cell migration. In mouse, deficiency of this gene is associated with defects in vascular morphogenesis in the brain and early post-natal death. [provided by RefSeq, May 2013]

Uniprot Description

ITGAV: The alpha-V integrins are receptors for vitronectin, cytotactin, fibronectin, fibrinogen, laminin, matrix metalloproteinase-2, osteopontin, osteomodulin, prothrombin, thrombospondin and vWF. They recognize the sequence R-G-D in a wide array of ligands. In case of HIV-1 infection, the interaction with extracellular viral Tat protein seems to enhance angiogenesis in Kaposi's sarcoma lesions. Belongs to the integrin alpha chain family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The CD51 itgav (Catalog #AAA214310) is an Antibody produced from Rat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's CD51 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistology Frozen, Flow cytometry (FC/FACS), Immunoprecipitation (IP). Flow Cytometry: Use 10ul of the suggested working dilution to label 106 cells in 100ul. Immunohistology - Frozen: Minimum Dilution: 1/25; Maximum Dilution: 1/100 Flow Cytometry: Minimum Dilution: 1/25; Maximum Dilution: 1/100. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CD51 itgav for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CD51, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
