Related Product Information for anti-BTAF1 antibody
Initiation of transcription by RNA polymerase II requires the assistance of TATA box-binding protein (TBP; MIM 600075) and TBP-associated factors, or TAFs (e.g., TAF2B; MIM 604912), in 2 distinct complexes, TFIID and B-TFIID. The TFIID complex is composed of TBP and more than 8 TAFs. However, the majority of TBP is present in the B-TFIID complex, which is composed of TBP and TAFII170, also called TAF172, and has DNA-dependent ATPase activity.

Uniprot Description

TAF172: Regulates transcription in association with TATA binding protein (TBP). Removes TBP from the TATA box in an ATP-dependent manner. Associates with TBP to form B-TFIID. Binds DRAP1. Belongs to the SNF2/RAD54 helicase family.

Protein type: Transcription initiation complex; EC 3.6.1.-; EC 3.6.4.-; Helicase

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 10q22-q23

Cellular Component: nucleus

Molecular Function: DNA binding; helicase activity; transcription factor activity; ATP binding

Biological Process: metabolic process; negative regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent

The BTAF1 RNA Polymerase II, B-TFIID Transcription Factor-Associated, 170kD (BTAF1, KIAA0940, Mot1 Homolog (S. cerevisiae), TAF172, TAFII170, TAF(II)170) reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's BTAF1 RNA Polymerase II, B-TFIID Transcription Factor-Associated, 170kD can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunoprecipitation (IP), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS). Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry, Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation and Immunocytochemistry. Dilution: Flow Cytometry: 0.5-2ug/ml Western Blot: 0.5-2ug/ml Immunocytochemistry: 2-50ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the BTAF1 btaf1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "BTAF1 RNA Polymerase II, B-TFIID Transcription Factor-Associated, 170kD, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
