It also plays an important role in tissue homeostasis and the prevention of inflammation. It functions as a bridge between phosphatidylserine on apoptotic cells and Integrin alpha V beta 3 on phagocytes, leading to the clearance of apoptotic debris. Recombinant mouse Mfge8 protein, fused to His-tag at C-terminus, was expressed in insect cell and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
