NCBI Description

In Drosophila, neuroblasts divide asymmetrically into another neuroblast at the apical side and a smaller ganglion mother cell on the basal side. Cell polarization is precisely regulated by 2 apically localized multiprotein signaling complexes that are tethered by Inscuteable, which regulates their apical localization (Izaki et al., 2006 [PubMed 16458856]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008]

Uniprot Description

Function: May function as an adapter linking the Par3 complex to the GPSM1/GPSM2 complex. Involved in spindle orientation during mitosis it may regulate cell proliferation and differentiation in the developing nervous system. May play a role in the asymmetric division of fibroblasts and participate in the process of stratification of the squamous epithelium. Ref.1

Subunit structure: Interacts with ALS2CR19/PAR3-beta, F2RL2/PAR3, GPSM1/AGS3 and GPSM2/LGN. Ref.1

Subcellular location: Cytoplasm. Note: Localizes to the apical cortex of mitotic epidermal cells and to the apical side of neuronal progenitor cells

By similarity.

Tissue specificity: Isoform 1 is expressed in various tissues with stronger expression in liver, kidney and small intestine. Isoform 2 is abundantly expressed in small intestine and to a lower extent in lung and pancreas. Ref.1 Ref.3

Developmental stage: Expressed in fetal cochlea. Ref.3

Product Notes

The INSC insc (Catalog #AAA649682) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The INSC, CT (INSC, Protein inscuteable homolog) reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's INSC can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry, ELISA Dilution: ELISA: 1:1,000 Western Blot: 1:100-500 Immunohistochemistry: 1:50-100. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the INSC insc for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "INSC, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
