Usage Notes
* Do not mix components from different kit lots or use reagents beyond the kit expiration date.
* Allow all reagents to warm to room temperature for at least 30 minutes before opening.
* Pre-rinse the pipet tip with reagent, use fresh pipet tips for each sample, standard and reagent to avoid contamination.
* Unused wells must be kept desiccated at 4 degree C in the sealed bag provided.
* Mix Thoroughly is very important for the result. It is recommended using low frequency oscillator or slight hand shaking every 10 minutes.
* It is recommended that all samples and standards be assayed in duplicate or triplicate.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 2-8 degree C.

Related Product Information for PIBF elisa kit
Description: This Human Progesterone induced blocking factor (PIBF) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate PIBF1 in samples. An antibody specific for PIBF1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any PIBF1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for PIBF1 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of PIBF1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Background: PIBF encodes a predicted hydrophilic 757-amino acid alpha-helical protein with an N-terminal signal sequence, a nuclear localization signal, a leucine zipper motif, a basic zipper sequence, a PEST sequence, an endoplasmic reticulum membrane retention signal, and several potential N-glycosylation and phosphorylation sites. Immunoblot analysis, immunocytochemistry, and fluorescence microscopy of insulin-treated mammary carcinoma cells detected expression of a 34-kD secreted protein in cytoplasmic granules. In untreated cells, nucleus-associated expression of the full-length 90-kD protein was detected.PIBF1 contains 758 amino acids. multiple PIBF1 transcripts expressed at highest levels in testis. Moderate expression was detected in spleen, thymus, prostate, ovary, small intestine, and colon.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein that is induced by the steroid hormone progesterone and plays a role in the maintenance of pregnancy. The encoded protein regulates multiple facets of the immune system to promote normal pregnancy including cytokine synthesis, natural killer (NK) cell activity, and arachidonic acid metabolism. Low serum levels of this protein have been associated with spontaneous pre-term labor in humans. This protein may promote the proliferation, migration and invasion of glioma. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2017]

Uniprot Description

PIBF1: Mediator of progesterone that by acting on the phospholipase A2 enzyme interferes with arachidonic acid metabolism, induces a Th2 biased immune response, and by controlling NK activity exerts an anti-abortive effect. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 13q22.1

Cellular Component: centrosome

Molecular Function: protein binding

Product Notes

The Human PIBF pibf1 (Catalog #AAA9714879) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9714879 ELISA Kit recognizes Human PIBF. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Progesterone Induced Blocking Factor (PIBF), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
