Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of Human Lumican (also known as LUM) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates.
Principle of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Human LUM antibody. LUM present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human LUM Antibody is added and binds to LUM in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated LUM antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human LUM. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

NCBI Description
This gene encodes a member of the small leucine-rich proteoglycan (SLRP) family that includes decorin, biglycan, fibromodulin, keratocan, epiphycan, and osteoglycin. In these bifunctional molecules, the protein moiety binds collagen fibrils and the highly charged hydrophilic glycosaminoglycans regulate interfibrillar spacings. Lumican is the major keratan sulfate proteoglycan of the cornea but is also distributed in interstitial collagenous matrices throughout the body. Lumican may regulate collagen fibril organization and circumferential growth, corneal transparency, and epithelial cell migration and tissue repair. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
