Host Note
Optimized DNA sequence encoding Human Bone Morphogenetic Protein-3b mature chain was expressed in Escherichia Coli.
Endotoxin
Endotoxin content was assayed using a LAL gel clot method.
Endotoxin level was found to be less than 0.1 ng/ug (1EU/ug).
Reconstitution
A quick spin of the vial followed by reconstitution in distilled water to a concentration not less than 0.1 mg/mL. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers.
Molecular Weight Note
Native human Bone Morphogenetic Protein-3b is generated by the proteolytic removal of the signal peptide and propeptide, the molecule has a calculated molecular mass of approximately 13 kDa.

Recombinant BMP-3b is a disulfide-linked monomer protein consisting of 111 amino acid residue subunits. BMP3 migrates as an approximately 12-13 kDa protein under reducing conditions in SDS-PAGE.
Preparation and Storage
Upon reconstitution, this cytokine can be stored in working aliquots at 2 degree - 8 degree C for one month, or at -20 degree C for six months.

Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Related Product Information for BMP-3 recombinant protein
BMPs are proteins that act to induce the differentiation of mesenchymal-type cells into chondrocytes and osteoblasts before initiating bone formation. They promote the differentiation of cartilage-forming cells and bone-forming cells near sites of fractures but also at ectopic locations. Some of the proteins induce the synthesis of alkaline phosphatase and collagen in osteoblasts. Some BMPs act directly on osteoblasts and promote their maturation while at the same time suppressing myogenous differentiation. Other BMPs promote the conversion of typical fibroblasts into chondrocytes and are capable also of inducing the expression of an osteoblast phenotype in non-osteogenic cell types. Intracellular signaling following engagement of receptors for some BMP proteins has been shown to involve the action of SMAD proteins.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) family and the TGF-beta superfamily. This group of proteins is characterized by a polybasic proteolytic processing site which is cleaved to produce a mature protein containing seven conserved cysteine residues. The members of this family are regulators of cell growth and differentiation in both embryonic and adult tissues. Studies in mice suggest that the protein encoded by this gene plays a role in skeletal morphogenesis. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Bone Morphogenetic Protein-3b, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
