Endotoxin
Endotoxin content was assayed using a LAL gel clot method.
Endotoxin level was found to be less than 0.1 ng/ug (1EU/ug).
Reconstitution
A quick spin of the vial followed by reconstitution in distilled water to a concentration not less than 0.1 mg/mL. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers.
Molecular Weight Note
Native Mouse aFGF, generated by the proteolytic removal of the signal peptide
and propeptide, the moleculte has a calculated mass of 16 kDa.

Recombinant FGF acidic is a disulfide-linked monomer protein consisting of 141 amino acids and migrates as an approximately 16 kDa protein under reducing and non-reducing conditions.
Preparation and Storage
The lyophilized protein is stable for at least 2 years from date of receipt at -20 degree C.
Upon reconstitution, this cytokine can be stored in working aliquots at 2 degree - 8 degree C for one month, or at -20 degree C for six months, with a carrier protein without detectable loss of activity.

Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Related Product Information for aFGF recombinant protein
aFGF and bFGF display 55 % homology which is limited, however, to a few functional domains. The structure of aFGF, revealed by X-ray crystallography, shows a similar folding structure as IL1. Because aFGF binds to the same receptor as bFGF, aFGF displays more or less the same spectrum of activities. It is, however, generally less active than bFGF in similar assays. FGF receptors are encoded by a gene family consisting of at least four receptor tyrosine kinases that transduce signals important in a variety of developmental and physiological processes related to cell growth and differentiation.

Uniprot Description

FGF1: Plays an important role in the regulation of cell survival, cell division, angiogenesis, cell differentiation and cell migration. Functions as potent mitogen in vitro. Monomer. Homodimer. Interacts with FGFR1, FGFR2, FGFR3 and FGFR4. Affinity between fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) and their receptors is increased by heparan sulfate glycosaminoglycans that function as coreceptors. Found in a complex with FGFBP1, FGF1 and FGF2. Interacts with FGFBP1. Part of a Cu(2+)-dependent multiprotein aggregate containing FGF1, S100A13 and SYT1. Interacts with SYT1. Interacts with S100A13. Belongs to the heparin-binding growth factors family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

The amino acid sequence is listed below: MAEGEITTFA ALTERFNLPL GNYKKPKLLY CSNGGHFLRI LPDGTVDGTR DRSDQHIQLQ LSAESAGEVY IKGTETGQYL AMDTEGLLYG SQTPNEECLF LERLEENHYN TYTSKKHAEK NWFVGLKKNG SCKRGPRTHY GQKAILFLPL PVSSD. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "acidic Fibroblast Growth Factor, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
