Preparation and Storage
Lyophilized Oncostatin M although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18 degree C. Upon reconstitution Oncostatin should be stored at 4 degree C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18 degree C.For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
Related Product Information for mOSM active protein
Description: OSM Mouse Recombinant produced in E Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 181 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 20.4kDa.The OSM is purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

Introduction: Oncostatin M is a member of a cytokine family that includes leukemia-inhibitory factor, granulocyte colony-stimulating factor, and interleukin 6. This gene encodes a growth regulator which inhibits the proliferation of a number of tumor cell lines. It regulates cytokine production, including IL-6, G-CSF and GM-CSF from endothelial cells.

Uniprot Description

OSM: Growth regulator. Inhibits the proliferation of a number of tumor cell lines. Stimulates proliferation of AIDS-KS cells. It regulates cytokine production, including IL-6, G-CSF and GM-CSF from endothelial cells. Uses both type I OSM receptor (heterodimers composed of LIPR and IL6ST) and type II OSM receptor (heterodimers composed of OSMR and IL6ST). Involved in the maturation of fetal hepatocytes, thereby promoting liver development and regeneration. Belongs to the LIF/OSM family.

Protein type: Secreted, signal peptide; Secreted; Cytokine

Cellular Component: extracellular space; extracellular region

Molecular Function: growth factor activity; oncostatin-M receptor binding; cytokine activity

Biological Process: negative regulation of hormone secretion; tyrosine phosphorylation of Stat3 protein; tyrosine phosphorylation of Stat5 protein; positive regulation of peptidyl-serine phosphorylation; peripheral nervous system development; negative regulation of cell proliferation; positive regulation of peptidyl-tyrosine phosphorylation; behavioral response to pain; positive regulation of MAPKKK cascade; response to heat; regulation of growth; negative regulation of meiosis; positive regulation of cell proliferation; tyrosine phosphorylation of Stat1 protein; immune response; positive regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter

Product Notes

The mOSM osm (Catalog #AAA145205) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The amino acid sequence is listed below: NRGCSNSSSQ LLSQLQNQAN LTGNTESLLE PYIRLQNLNT PDLRAACTQH SVAFPSEDTL RQLSKPHFLS TVYTTLDRVL YQLDALRQKF LKTPAFPKLD SARHNILGIR NNVFCMARLL NHSLEIPEPT QTDSGASRST TTPDVFNTKI GSCGFLWGYH RFMGSVGRVF REWDDGSTRS R. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Oncostatin-M, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
