Related Product Information for anti-CK-20 antibody
KRT20 is a member of the keratin family. The keratins are intermediate filament proteins responsible for the structural integrity of epithelial cells and are subdivided into cytokeratins and hair keratins. The type I cytokeratins consist of acidic proteins which are arranged in pairs of heterotypic keratin chains. This cytokeratin is a major cellular protein of mature enterocytes and goblet cells and is specifically expressed in the gastric and intestinal mucosa. Diseases associated with KRT20 include Merkel Cell Carcinoma and Cystic Teratoma. Cytokeratin 20 (CK20) has a molecular weight of 46 kDa, which is the main marker of gastrointestinal epithelial, urethral epithelial and Merkel cells. CK20 is mainly used for identification of gastrointestinal adenocarcinoma, ovarian mucinous tumors and Merkel cell carcinoma. There is no expression of CK20 in squamous cell carcinoma, breast cancer, lung cancer, endometrial cancer and ovarian non-mucinous tumors.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the keratin family. The type I cytokeratin genes are clustered in a region of chromosome 17q12-q21. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

K20: a type I cytoskeletal keratin. The keratins are intermediate filament proteins responsible for the structural integrity of epithelial cells and are subdivided into cytokeratins and hair keratins. There are two types of cytoskeletal and microfibrillar keratin: type I (acidic; 40-55 kDa) [K9 to K20] and type II (neutral to basic; 56-70 kDa) [K1 to K8]. Both a basic and an acidic keratin are required for filament assembly.

Protein type: Cytoskeletal

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17q21.2

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; intermediate filament

Molecular Function: protein binding; structural constituent of cytoskeleton

Biological Process: regulation of protein secretion; apoptosis; cellular response to stress; intermediate filament organization

Product Notes

The CK-20 krt20 (Catalog #AAA2563604) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The CK-20 Monoclonal Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CK-20 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin, Immunohistochemistry (IHC). IHC: 1:100-1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CK-20 krt20 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CK-20, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
