Related Product Information for LDHB active protein
Description: LDHB Recombinant Human produced in E Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 354 amino acids (1-334 a.a.) and having a molecular mass of 38.8 kDa. The LDHB is fused to 20 amino acid His-Tag at N-terminus and purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

Introduction: LDHB is part of the lactate dehydrogenase family. LDHB is an oxidoreductase which catalyses the interconversion of pyruvate and lactate with concomitant interconversion of NADH and NAD+. LDHB catalyzes the oxidation of hydroxybutyrate, and frequently called Hydroxybutyrate Dehydrogenase (HBD). The LDH family consists of three members, LDH-A, LDH-B and LDH-C. LDHs function as powerful markers for germ cell tumors.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes an enzyme which catalyzes the reversible conversion of lactate and pyruvate, and NAD and NADH, in the glycolytic pathway. Mutations in this gene are associated with lactate dehydrogenase B deficiency. Pseudogenes have been identified on the X chromosome and on chromosome. Multiple alternatively spliced variants, encoding the same protein, have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2010]
