Related Product Information for GPT active protein
GPT, also known as alanine aminotransferases (ALT1), catalyzes the reversible transamination between alanine and 2-oxoglutarate to form pyruvate and glutamate. This protein plays a key role in the intermediary metabolism of glucose and amino acids. It is widely used as an index of liver integrity or hepatocellular damage in clinical settings. Recombinant human GPT protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes cytosolic alanine aminotransaminase 1 (ALT1); also known as glutamate-pyruvate transaminase 1. This enzyme catalyzes the reversible transamination between alanine and 2-oxoglutarate to generate pyruvate and glutamate and, therefore, plays a key role in the intermediary metabolism of glucose and amino acids. Serum activity levels of this enzyme are routinely used as a biomarker of liver injury caused by drug toxicity, infection, alcohol, and steatosis. A related gene on chromosome 16 encodes a putative mitochondrial alanine aminotransaminase.[provided by RefSeq, Nov 2009]

Uniprot Description

GPT: Catalyzes the reversible transamination between alanine and 2-oxoglutarate to form pyruvate and glutamate. Participates in cellular nitrogen metabolism and also in liver gluconeogenesis starting with precursors transported from skeletal muscles. Belongs to the class-I pyridoxal-phosphate-dependent aminotransferase family. Alanine aminotransferase subfamily.

Protein type: Transferase; Amino Acid Metabolism - alanine, aspartate and glutamate; EC 2.6.1.2

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 8q24.3

Cellular Component: cytosol

Molecular Function: alanine transaminase activity; pyridoxal phosphate binding

Biological Process: amino acid biosynthetic process; L-alanine catabolic process

Product Notes

The GPT gpt (Catalog #AAA844988) is an Active Protein produced from E. Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 1-496. AAA Biotech's GPT/ALT1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, SDS-PAGE (SDS). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GPT gpt for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: MGSSHHHHHH SSGLVPRGSH MASSTGDRSQ AVRHGLRAKV LTLDGMNPRV RRVEYAVRGP IVQRALELEQ ELRQGVKKPF TEVIRANI GD AQAMGQRPIT FLRQVLALCV NPDLLSSPNF PDDAKKRAER ILQACGGHSL GAYSVSSGIQ LIREDVARYI ERRDGGIP AD PNNVFLSTGA SDAIVTVLKL LVAGEGHTRT GVLIPIPQYP LYSATLAELG AVQVDYYLDE ERAWALDVAE LHRALGQA RD HCRPRALCVI NPGNPTGQVQ TRECIEAVIR FAFEERLFLL ADEVYQDNVY AAGSQFHSFK KVLMEMGPPY AGQQELAS FH STSKGYMGEC GFRGGYVEVV NMDAAVQQQM LKLMSVRLCP PVPGQALLDL VVSPPAPTDP SFAQFQAEKQ AVLAELAA KA KLTEQVFNEA PGISCNPVQG AMYSFPRVQL PPRAVERAQE LGLAPDMFFC LRLLEETGIC VVPGSGFGQR EGTYHFRM TI LPPLEKLRLL LEKLSRFHAK FTLEYS. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GPT/ALT1, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
