Related Product Information for CXCL16 active protein
Chemokine (CXC motif) ligand 16, is a small cytokine belonging to the CXC chemokine family and signals through the CXCR6 receptor. CXCL16 is composed of its typical CXC chemokine domain, a mucin-like stalk, a transmembrane domain, and a cytoplasmic tail which allow CXCL16 to act as a cell surface bound molecule as well as a soluble chemokine. Human CXCL16 shares 70% amino acid sequence similarity with the mouse and CXCL16 expression is induced by IFN-gamma and TNF-alpha. CXCL16 is produced by dendritic cells in lymphoid organs, and by red pulp spleen cells. The expression of CXCL16 may attract lymphocytes during inflammation and assist some immune responses.

Uniprot Description

CXCL16: Acts as a scavenger receptor on macrophages, which specifically binds to OxLDL (oxidized low density lipoprotein), suggesting that it may be involved in pathophysiology such as atherogenesis. Induces a strong chemotactic response. Induces calcium mobilization. Binds to CXCR6/Bonzo. Belongs to the intercrine alpha (chemokine CxC) family.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17p13

Cellular Component: extracellular space; membrane; extracellular region; plasma membrane; integral to membrane

Molecular Function: low-density lipoprotein receptor activity; chemokine activity; scavenger receptor activity

Biological Process: receptor-mediated endocytosis; response to cytokine stimulus; chemotaxis; positive regulation of cell growth; positive regulation of cell migration

Product Notes

The CXCL16 cxcl16 (Catalog #AAA4159848) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CXCL16, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
