Host
HEK 293 Cells
Purity/Purification
>94% as determined by SDS-PAGE
Form/Format
0.22um filtered protein solution is in PBS, pH7.4.
Sequence
Asn19-Pro152
Endotoxin
<0.1 EU per ug of the protein as determined by the LAL method.
Protein Construction
Amino acid sequence derived from human CD28 protein (P10747-1, Asn19-Pro152) was expressed with the Fc region of human IgG1 at the C-terminus.
Protein Length
The recombinant human CD28 protein consists of 371 amino acids and predicts a molecular mass of 42 kD. The apparent molecular mass of the human CD28 is approximately 53-70kDa in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions due to glycosylation.
Usage Notes
Always centrifuge tubes before opening. It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized human CD28 protein using the buffer we provided not less than 100ug/mL, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
Preparation and Storage
Lyophilized human CD28 protein product should be stored desiccated below -20 degree C. Upon reconstitution, the protein should be stored at 4 degree C between 2-7 days and for future use below -20 degree C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Related Product Information for CD28 recombinant protein
Description: Recombinant Human CD28 protein expressed in HEK293 Cells.
Background: The cluster of differentiation (CD) antigen CD28 is a 44 kDa, disulphide-bonded, homodimeric glycoprotein, which is a costimulatory molecule expressed on the surface of T lymphocytes and plays an important role in the activation of T cells. It mediates the co stimulation of T cells by binding to B7 molecules on APC (antigen presenting cells). CD28 signals play a key role in many T cell processes, including cytoskeletal remodeling, production of cytokines, survival, and differentiation. Blocking CD28/B7 interactions may be useful in preventing unwanted activation in allergy and autoimmune diseases, whereas enhancing this interaction can promote tumour rejection. Thus, CD28 and its signalling pathways may prove to be useful targets in the development of new therapeutic treatments.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is essential for T-cell proliferation and survival, cytokine production, and T-helper type-2 development. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Jul 2011]

Uniprot Description

CD28: a type I plasma membrane protein Involved in T-cell activation, the induction of cell proliferation and cytokine production and promotion of T-cell survival. Binds to B7-1 and -2. Expressed in T cells and plasma cells, but not in less mature B cells. Six splice-variant isoforms have been described.

Product Notes

The CD28 cd28 (Catalog #AAA9718997) is a Recombinant Protein produced from HEK 293 Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Asn19-Pro1 52. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CD28, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
