Function
FunctionDNA/RNA-binding protein that plays a role invarious cellular processes such astranscription regulation, RNA splicing, RNAtransport, DNA repair and damage response(PubMed:27731383). Binds tonascent pre-mRNAs and acts as a molecularmediator between RNA polymerase II and U1small nuclear ribonucleoprotein therebycoupling transcription and splicing(PubMed:26124092). Binds alsoits own pre- mRNA and autoregulates itsexpression; this autoregulation mechanism ismediated by non-sense-mediated decay(PubMed:24204307). Plays arole in DNA repair mechanisms by promotingD-loop formation and homologousrecombination during DNA double-strandbreak repair (PubMed:10567410). Inneuronal cells, plays crucial roles in dendriticspine formation and stability, RNA transport,mRNA stability and synaptic homeostasis (By similarity).
Preparation and Storage
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8°C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20°C.
Related Product Information for FUS blocking peptide
Binds both single-stranded and double-stranded DNA and promotes ATP-independent annealing of complementary single- stranded DNAs and D-loop formation in superhelical double-stranded DNA. May play a role in maintenance of genomic integrity.

Background: This gene encodes a multifunctional protein component of the heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein (hnRNP) complex. The hnRNP complex is involved in pre-mRNA splicing and the export of fully processed mRNA to the cytoplasm. This protein belongs to the FET family of RNA-binding proteins which have been implicated in cellular processes that include regulation of gene expression, maintenance of genomic integrity and mRNA/microRNA processing. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Defects in this gene result in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis type6.

Uniprot Description

hnRNP P2: Binds both single-stranded and double-stranded DNA and promotes ATP-independent annealing of complementary single- stranded DNAs and D-loop formation in superhelical double-stranded DNA. May play a role in maintenance of genomic integrity. Component of nuclear riboprotein complexes. Interacts with ILF3, TDRD3 and SF1. Interacts through its C-terminus with SFRS13A. Interacts with OTUB1 and SARNP. Ubiquitous. Belongs to the RRM TET family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The FUS fus (Catalog #AAA9217469) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "FUS, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
