DCXR blocking peptide

DCXR Antibody (Center) Blocking Peptide

Gene Names
DCXR; XR; DCR; HCR2; P34H; HCRII; KIDCR; PNTSU; SDR20C1
Synonyms
DCXR; DCXR Antibody (Center) Blocking Peptide; L-xylulose reductase; XR; Carbonyl reductase II; Dicarbonyl/L-xylulose reductase; Kidney dicarbonyl reductase; kiDCR; Sperm surface protein P34H; DCXR blocking peptide
Ordering
Specificity
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody was selected from the Center region of human DCXR. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
Form/Format
Synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml DI water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.
Sequence Length
244
Cellular Location
Membrane; Peripheral membrane protein. Note: Probably recruited to membranes via an interaction with phosphatidylinositol.
Tissue Location
Highly expressed in kidney, liver and epididymis. In the epididymis, it is mainly expressed in the proximal and distal sections of the corpus region. Weakly or not expressed in brain, lung, heart, spleen and testis
Preparation and Storage
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8 degree C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20 degree C.
Related Product Information for DCXR blocking peptide
Catalyzes the NADPH-dependent reduction of several pentoses, tetroses, trioses, alpha-dicarbonyl compounds and L- xylulose. Participates in the uronate cycle of glucose metabolism. May play a role in the water absorption and cellular osmoregulation in the proximal renal tubules by producing xylitol, an osmolyte, thereby preventing osmolytic stress from occurring in the renal tubules.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene acts as a homotetramer to catalyze diacetyl reductase and L-xylulose reductase reactions. The encoded protein may play a role in the uronate cycle of glucose metabolism and in the cellular osmoregulation in the proximal renal tubules. Defects in this gene are a cause of pentosuria. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Aug 2010]

Uniprot Description

DCXR: Catalyzes the NADPH-dependent reduction of several pentoses, tetroses, trioses, alpha-dicarbonyl compounds and L- xylulose. Participates in the uronate cycle of glucose metabolism. May play a role in the water absorption and cellular osmoregulation in the proximal renal tubules by producing xylitol, an osmolyte, thereby preventing osmolytic stress from occurring in the renal tubules. The enzyme defect in pentosuria has been shown to involve L-xylulose reductase. Essential pentosuria is an inborn error of metabolism characterized by the excessive urinary excretion of the pentose L-xylulose. Belongs to the short-chain dehydrogenases/reductases (SDR) family.

Protein type: EC 1.1.1.10; Oxidoreductase; Carbohydrate Metabolism - pentose and glucuronate interconversions

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17q25.3

Cellular Component: cytoplasmic microtubule; nucleus; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: L-xylulose reductase activity; oxidoreductase activity, acting on NADH or NADPH, quinone or similar compound as acceptor

Biological Process: glucose metabolic process; glucuronate catabolic process to xylulose 5-phosphate; protein homotetramerization; xylulose metabolic process

Disease: Pentosuria

Product Notes

The DCXR dcxr (Catalog #AAA9226893) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "DCXR, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
