Usage Notes
* Do not mix components from different kit lots or use reagents beyond the kit expiration date.
* Allow all reagents to warm to room temperature for at least 30 minutes before opening.
* Pre-rinse the pipet tip with reagent, use fresh pipet tips for each sample, standard and reagent to avoid contamination.
* Unused wells must be kept desiccated at 4 degree C in the sealed bag provided.
* Mix Thoroughly is very important for the result. It is recommended using low frequency oscillator or slight hand shaking every 10 minutes.
* It is recommended that all samples and standards be assayed in duplicate or triplicate.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 2-8 degree C.

Related Product Information for Cyt-C elisa kit
Description: This Human Cytochrome c (Cyt-C) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate CYCS in samples. An antibody specific for CYCS has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any CYCS present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for CYCS is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of CYCS bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Background: CYFIP1 encodes a protein that regulates cytoskeletal dynamics and protein translation. The encoded protein is a component of the WAVE regulatory complex (WRC), which promotes actin polymerization. This protein also interacts with the Fragile X mental retardation protein (FMRP) and translation initiation factor 4E to inhibit protein translation. A large chromosomal deletion including CYFIP1 is associated with increased risk of schizophrenia and epilepsy in human patients. Reduced expression of this gene has been observed in various human cancers and the encoded protein may inhibit tumor invasion.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a small heme protein that functions as a central component of the electron transport chain in mitochondria. The encoded protein associates with the inner membrane of the mitochondrion where it accepts electrons from cytochrome b and transfers them to the cytochrome oxidase complex. This protein is also involved in initiation of apoptosis. Mutations in this gene are associated with autosomal dominant nonsyndromic thrombocytopenia. Numerous processed pseudogenes of this gene are found throughout the human genome.[provided by RefSeq, Jul 2010]

Uniprot Description

CYCS: Electron carrier protein. The oxidized form of the cytochrome c heme group can accept an electron from the heme group of the cytochrome c1 subunit of cytochrome reductase. Cytochrome c then transfers this electron to the cytochrome oxidase complex, the final protein carrier in the mitochondrial electron-transport chain. Belongs to the cytochrome c family.

Protein type: Protein phosphatase, Ser/Thr (non-receptor); Oxidoreductase; Mitochondrial; Apoptosis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 7p15.3

Cellular Component: protein phosphatase type 2A complex; mitochondrion; mitochondrial inner membrane; mitochondrial intermembrane space; nucleus; cytosol

Molecular Function: electron transporter, transferring electrons from CoQH2-cytochrome c reductase complex and cytochrome c oxidase complex activity; protein binding; iron ion binding; heme binding; protein serine/threonine phosphatase activity

Biological Process: mitochondrion organization and biogenesis; cellular metabolic process; response to reactive oxygen species; dephosphorylation; apoptosis; organelle organization and biogenesis; cellular respiration; mitochondrial electron transport, cytochrome c to oxygen; DNA fragmentation during apoptosis; caspase activation via cytochrome c; transmembrane transport; mitochondrial electron transport, ubiquinol to cytochrome c

Product Notes

The Human Cyt-C cycs (Catalog #AAA9715842) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9715842 ELISA Kit recognizes Human Cyt-C. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Cytochrome C (Cyt-C), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
