Related Product Information for Cyt-C elisa kit
Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of Rat Cytochrome-C (also known as Cyt-C) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates.

Principles of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Rat Cyt-C antibody. Cyt-C present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat Cyt-C Antibody is added and binds to Cyt-C in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated Cyt-C antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat Cyt-C. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a small heme protein that functions as a central component of the electron transport chain in mitochondria. The encoded protein associates with the inner membrane of the mitochondrion where it accepts electrons from cytochrome b and transfers them to the cytochrome oxidase complex. This protein is also involved in initiation of apoptosis. Mutations in this gene are associated with autosomal dominant nonsyndromic thrombocytopenia. Numerous processed pseudogenes of this gene are found throughout the human genome.[provided by RefSeq, Jul 2010]

Uniprot Description

Electron carrier protein. The oxidized form of the cytochrome c heme group can accept an electron from the heme group of the cytochrome c1 subunit of cytochrome reductase. Cytochrome c then transfers this electron to the cytochrome oxidase complex, the final protein carrier in the mitochondrial electron-transport chain.

Product Notes

The Rat Cyt-C cycs (Catalog #AAA165286) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA165286 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat Cyt-C. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Cytochrome-C, Cyt-C, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
