Related Product Information for anti-GFRA3 antibody
Glial cell line derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) Family Receptor Alpha 3 (GFRA3) or GDNFRa3 is a member of the GDNF receptor family. It is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-linked cell surface receptor for both GDNF and NTN, and mediates activation of the RET tyrosine kinase receptor. GFRA3/GDNFRa3 is a potent survival factor for central and peripheral neurons, and is essential for the development of kidneys and the enteric nervous system. Glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) and neurturin (NTN) are its binding ligand which are two structurally related, potent neurotrophic factors that play key roles in the control of neuron survival and differentiation. GDNF promotes the formation of a physical complex between GFRA/GDNFRa and the orphan tyrosin kinase receptor Ret, thereby inducing its tyrosine phosphorylation. The RET is a receptor tyrosine kinase representing the signal-transducing molecule of a multisubunit surface receptor complex for the GDNF, in which GFRA/GDNFRa acts as the ligand-binding component. The neurotrophic growth factor artemin binds selectively to GDNF family receptor alpha3 (GFRA3/GDNFRa3), forming a molecular complex with the co-receptor RET which mediates downstream signaling. This signaling pathway has been demonstrated to play an important role in the survival and maintenance of nociceptive sensory neurons and in the development of sympathetic neurons.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a cell surface glycoprotein and member of the glial cell line-derived neurotrophic receptor (GDNFR) family of proteins. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate the mature protein. This protein mediates binding of the ligand artemin to the ret receptor tyrosine kinase, and this interaction may regulate thermal pain and axon regeneration. Homozygous knockout mice for this gene exhibit impaired proliferation of cultured neuroblasts and impaired development of the superior cervical ganglion. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2015]

Uniprot Description

GFRA3: Receptor for the glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor, ARTN (artemin). Mediates the artemin-induced autophosphorylation and activation of the RET receptor tyrosine kinase. Belongs to the GDNFR family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The GFRA3 gfra3 (Catalog #AAA8103468) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-GFR Alpha-3/GFRA3 Antibody, Rabbit Polyclonal reacts with Mouse, Rat Predicted to React with: Human, Bovin (Species predicted to react based on 100% sequence homology) and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's GFR Alpha-3/GFRA3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin (IHC-P). IHC-P: 1:200-1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GFRA3 gfra3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GFR Alpha-3/GFRA3, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
