NCBI Description

This gene encodes a cell surface glycoprotein and member of the glial cell line-derived neurotrophic receptor (GDNFR) family of proteins. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate the mature protein. This protein mediates binding of the ligand artemin to the ret receptor tyrosine kinase, and this interaction may regulate thermal pain and axon regeneration. Homozygous knockout mice for this gene exhibit impaired proliferation of cultured neuroblasts and impaired development of the superior cervical ganglion. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2015]

Uniprot Description

GFRA3: Receptor for the glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor, ARTN (artemin). Mediates the artemin-induced autophosphorylation and activation of the RET receptor tyrosine kinase. Belongs to the GDNFR family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The GFRA3 gfra3 (Catalog #AAA2546748) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Human Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The recombinant mouse GFRA3 comprises 362 amino acids and has a predicted molecular mass of 40.7 kDa. The apparent molecular mass of the protein is approximately 42-52 kDa in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GFRA3 gfra3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GFRA3 / GFR-alpha-3, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
