Preparation and Storage
May be stored at 4 degree C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Store at -20 degree C or colder. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Related Product Information for anti-FSCN1 antibody
Human fascin is a highly conserved actin-bundling protein. Fascin, encoded by the human homolog for sn (hsn) gene, has been localized to microspikes and stress fibers of cultured cells where it is thought to be involved in the formation of microfilament bundles. It is expressed predominantly in dendritic cells. Lymphoid cells, myeloid cells and plasma cells are negative. However. Reed Sternberg cells in Hodgkin's lymphoma are positive for fascin staining. Epstein-Barr virus may induce expression of fascin in B cells.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the fascin family of actin-binding proteins. Fascin proteins organize F-actin into parallel bundles, and are required for the formation of actin-based cellular protrusions. The encoded protein plays a critical role in cell migration, motility, adhesion and cellular interactions. Expression of this gene is known to be regulated by several microRNAs, and overexpression of this gene may play a role in the metastasis of multiple types of cancer by increasing cell motility. Expression of this gene is also a marker for Reed-Sternberg cells in Hodgkin's lymphoma. A pseudogene of this gene is located on the long arm of chromosome 15. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2011]

Uniprot Description

Fascin: Organizes filamentous actin into bundles with a minimum of 4.1:1 actin/fascin ratio. Plays a role in the organization of actin filament bundles and the formation of microspikes, membrane ruffles, and stress fibers. Important for the formation of a diverse set of cell protrusions, such as filopodia, and for cell motility and migration. Associates with beta-catenin. Ubiquitous. Belongs to the fascin family.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 7p22

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; stress fiber; cytosol; cell junction; actin cytoskeleton; filopodium

Product Notes

The FSCN1 fscn1 (Catalog #AAA601779) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Fascin reacts with Human, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Fascin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Immunohistology (Formalin/paraffin): (Use Ab at 1:100-1:200 for 30 min at RT) Staining of formalin-fixed tissues REQUIRES boiling tissue sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0, for 10-20 min followed by cooling at RT for 20 min. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the FSCN1 fscn1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Fascin, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
